Why Art Therapy

What is art therapy? It combines the creative process and psychotherapy, allowing you to better explore and understand your feelings. Art therapy uses imagery, colour and shape as part of a creative therapeutic process. In this safe environment, with the facilitation of our Clinical Art Psychotherapist, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that might otherwise be difficult to articulate. 

As defined by the Art Therapy Association, art therapy is used to:

  • improve cognitive and sensorimotor functions
  • foster self-esteem and self-awareness
  • cultivate emotional resilience
  • promote insight
  • enhance social skills
  • reduce and resolve conflicts and distress
