Grief
Counselling & Therapy

Losing a loved one is more than a life transition—it can be debilitating.

Grief doesn't define you

If you’re struggling to move forward after a loss or finding that your grief feels like too much to handle on your own, reach out to us for help. Grief and loss can be overwhelming and can bring up a range of emotions, including sadness, anger, guilt, and confusion.

Grief and grief-related major depression can be persistent and gravely disabling. It can dramatically interfere with your quality of life. It’s common to feel isolated and disconnected from the people around you. The range of emotions can be as broad as the range felt within that relationship. There can even be panic or anxiety along with the sadness and a sense of yearning for your loved one. There can be confusion about what happens next—now that “we” has become “me.”

There can be physical and health related implications too. You may have digestive issues, problems sleeping, or feel very tired. Your immune system may suffer. Your body may even react with inflammation that can lead to other health problems. Holding your feelings inside might make it worse.

It takes time to adjust to the fact that you have lost your loved one. Therapy can help you manage those feelings and work through them in a safe environment. You can explore why you feel the way you do, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and ultimately take the steps to move forward at a pace that works for you. You don’t have to face your pain alone. We can help.

Grief is not a one-size-fits-all experience that is the same for everyone, so we customize a therapy approach based on what you need.

How Grief Therapy Works

Depression Counselling

Grief is also caused by different life experiences. While many think of the loss of a spouse as being a main cause of grief, there are many other circumstances that can be difficult to manage: losing a parent or a sibling; a child suffering a loss; or witnessing death as part of your job.

That’s why we offer therapy for children, teens, young adults and adults; we have individual and group therapy; and we provide therapy for veterans and first responders.

Our approach at Better Life Counselling & Therapy centers around the belief that you are already whole. It is our job to provide the support and guidance you need to bring forth the best version of yourself.
