I believe that you are the expert on your life and have the most accurate knowledge of yourself; therefore, when you are doing well, you naturally know what is best for you. However, being too close to your experience can sometimes feel disorienting and confusing, blocking access to your inner compass. When that happens, it can be helpful to have on your team an expert on psychological processes such as a counsellor.

Counselling can help you get distance and clarity of your thoughts and emotions and in this way, you can see the patterns that may be in charge of your behaviour and causing you distress; clarity and awareness make it possible for you to see where you can intervene and to realize where you have freedom to choose differently. Thus, counselling can give you back your power and puts you back in charge of your life. While you choose the direction and goals of therapy, the therapist is acting as your guide and fellow traveller, not walking ahead of you and telling you what you should do but alongside you as an equal who wants to understand the layout of your experience first before using their knowledge and expertise to collaboratively find the best way forward.

I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor who has been working in private practice since 2020. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, a Diploma in Professional Counselling from the Vancouver College of Counsellor Training and I’m currently in my 5th year of a 6-year-long training in Existential Analysis. I’m also trained in the Gottman method for couples counselling.

I combine the practical and efficient approach of CBT with the depth therapy of Existential Analysis. CBT helps to prioritize goals, see patterns and gives you tools to manage and quickly resolve urgent problems. CBT also has many evidence-based strategies to address common concerns such as anxiety. For underlying and longstanding themes that may not fit a label so readily, Existential Analysis gets to the root of the issue and focuses on finding a unique solution to your unique situation. In addition, Existential Analysis gives you the tools to find your personal answer to life’s big questions.

In using CBT I hope to teach you how to become your own counsellor and in using Existential Analysis I hope to work together to find your unique way to live your life with freedom, authenticity and purpose.

More About Alexandra

My favourite moments are when I can be spending time with my pets, holding them both at once.

One of my favourite quotes:
