Sometimes, clients feel overwhelmed by the process of starting therapy. They aren’t sure if it will help; they feel they need to be ten steps ahead of where they are, and they can’t see a way forward.

I utilize a holistic and individualistic approach throughout the therapeutic process to accommodate each client’s unique experience, needs, and goals for therapy.

I strive to create a safe, welcoming, empathic, non-judgmental and comfortable environment and value the importance of the therapeutic relationship so they can move forward with ease.

Nola is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, a Yorkville University graduate with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, and a University of Victoria graduate with a Bachelor of Social work. Over the past five years, she has worked at the Sobering Assessment Centre and the Recovery Addiction unit, both at Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), working with and assessing clients with depression, anxiety, trauma experiences, clients recovering from Substance misuse, and clients undergoing harm reduction to manage their substance misuse. As a social worker, while working in the Ministry of Children and Family Development, I have also worked with teenagers under the care of the ministry and families, especially women who have undergone or were undergoing intimate partner violence and abuse.

More About Nola

I used to teach Zumba dance to children in my daughter’s elementary school in Ontario. I also taught some evenings of Zumba dance to older women during lunchtime and to adults and kids. I enjoy the ease of using dance to keep fit and connect with myself and others. I also love cooking and trying new recipes.
